Second Degree Corona Lodge July 16th

On Saturday July 16th the Brethren of Corona lodge passed Brother Peter Harrison to the second degree. Brother Harrison set the tone with an impressive rendition of the candidate's catechism at the beginning of the night's proceedings. Corona's Senior Deacon did an admirable job showing a real commitment to the work. Members of Raphael and Maranoa lodges lent their support by actively assisting in the ceremony.

Maranoa Proclamation June 25th 2011

The brethren of Maranoa Lodge decided that the Master needed another 12 months in the chair of King Solomon to get it right. So on Saturday June 25th 2011 at the Roma Masonic Centre, Wor Bro Charles Burrell was proclaimed as Worshipful Master for 2011 - 2012. An excellent  ceremony was worked in the Lodge-room with Maranoa being ably supported by brethren from Raphael, Corona, Bonnie Doon, and at short notice, Pialba lodge.

Afterwards the brethren and their ladies enjoyed a wonderful banquet held at the Roma Bowls club. As a part of the festivities, Bro Ray Martin received The Aged Masons, Widows and Orphans' fund Life Governor's jewel in recognition of the way he has grasped Freemasonry to his heart and the effort & support he gives to Maranoa Lodge, as evidenced by his being invested as Junior Warden for the coming year. The jewel was presented by VW Bro John Lethbridge, who in his last duty as AGSWks for the district, represented the MW Grand Master at the Proclamation.

congratulations

Well done and congratulations, Ray! And thanks for a good four years, to Bro Lefty!

April Update

Well brethren i am back on the air again, i seemed to misplace my camera which was found last week exactly where i left it.

This year has seen some interesting times, we had 10 inches of rain for March and Roma again was under flood in April.

i think that one local put it well in saying " March 2010 was a 1 in a 100 year flood and April 2011 was a 1 in 13 month flood.

no matter what we do old mother nature is still a supreme power.  in saying that it doesn't hurt to pause for a second and think of the many people thoughout the world whose lives have been effected by natural disasters this year.

especially those Brethren.

I have only 2 months to go in my term as AGSWks and what a 4 years it has been.  it has been an absoulute honor to serve the wonderful Brethren of the Maranoa.  I feel sure i leave Freemasonry in the district in a stronger position.  It is particulary pleasing to see some newer generation Masons stand up and take a leadership in their lodges. Our Immediate Past Grand Master's vision of Being happy and communicating happiness is very much alive int he Maranoa.  It has always being my vision and belief that Freemasonry is a vital organisation for providing stability in a community by teaching current and future leaders what is right and wrong thus making them better men and better leaders.  this can only lead to a more stable community.

I am unsure as to the allocation of the AGSWks after July but i wish both Ken Rainbow and Kim Ruru all the best and urge you all to support them in their endevour to promote freemasonry.  They no doubt will have different styles and ideas to myself but we are all aiming for the one direction and that is to grow Freemasonry in the Maranoa and to keep the Institution firmly as a pillar in the community.

to all the newer Brethren who have taken their first degrees during my term i wish them well and i am proud to of been a part of your degrees. i will follow your carrer with great interest.

Yours in Freemasonry

John Lethbridge
